![]() ![]() ![]() Our Story Opening on the first day of summer in 2003, it did not take Bottega Italiana long to draw critical acclaim for it's authentic Italian gelati and family-style atmosphere. The Bottega Italiana story began 5 months prior to the opening of its doors when native Italians Luca Guerrieri, Antonella Ragazzi and David Arato met at an Italian-speaking night in Seattle. What started as two homesick Italians quickly formed into the business partnership that is Bottega Italiana. From its conception, Bottega Italiana has boasted the bustling, familial atmosphere of the proverbial Italian business. Whether enjoying one of Bottega's velvety gelati or a smooth Illy espresso, customers enjoy quick, personal service just as they would in the heart of any Italian city. With the success, formation of outstanding relationships and a strong local following that Bottega Italiana has experienced over the previous four years in Seattle, we are excited to have expanded our locations. We now have our authentic Italian caffes available to serve you at our new Greenlake location as well as at our new Coronado locationin the San Diego, California area, with more to follow. Our Commitment to You and the Environment Bottega Italiana is committed not only to the health of our customers, but also to the well-being of the environment. When you enter one of our cafe's, we strive to provide you with an lasting and memorable experiece. Whether you come to enjoy our authentic gelati or Illy espresso, we hope it will be an enjoyable experience not soon forgotten. To honor this commitment to you, we make a point to avoid corn syrups, artificial colors and flavors, and milk that has been treated with growth hormones. Our fruit flavors are made only during the season of the fruit, meaning that you will find mango here during late summer, and peach during the fall. The only color in our gelati comes from the natural ingredients. You may notice that our pistacchio is not bright green, and our banana is not yellow. To honor this commitment to the environment, we recycle all appropriate plastics, metals, and paper products. We compost hundreds of pounds of fruit a month. Lastly, our gelato cups and wholesale containers are made from biodegradable corn plastic. These plastics contain no petroleum; take just 45 days to biodegrade in a landfill; and require 65% less energy to produce than conventional plastics.
